Most of us have this hunger for multinationals, ranks, designations, hierarchy, etc. Don’t we? And it makes complete sense to have a fascination for such things because it’s considered prestigious, commands deference, makes one complacent, boosts confidence.
But is it smart to limit your knowledge or conduct yourself according to the position you hold in your organization?
“That’s not my job. My boss is accountable for any lapse.”
“I work with a start-up, why should I care to come on time.”
“Hey look, I am the CEO of XYZ, you better listen to me. I’m always right.”
“You are just an analyst, I’d rather talk to your manager.”
“I’m from Google, I am smarter than the rest”, So what do you do, “Well, you see I am part of this huge Adwords team, presently helping a small European jewellery boutique to sell its stuff in New York.”, And when did you join, “Last month, I am a fresher actually, so what, I am a Googler now.”
What if you don’t have that position one day, no brand behind you, your name being your only representation, can you still go ahead and create a brand without refering to all those brands you’ve worked with or all the past success.
Something to ponder, isn’t it? It would certainly not be wise to be a prisoner of your visiting card and the logo on it.
